Hello again…

It’s been so long since I blogged that I remembered my username and password on the third attempt… Oh dear! It’s been nearly six months since my last post. Wow, that really has been a while! And you know what? I have actually missed blogging and reading other people’s blogs, I’ve felt a bit out of the loop really. It’s funny how quickly that happens. Like I thought I was pretty ‘bang on trend’ the other day when I discovered ‘deer & doe‘ sewing patterns from France. Oh no, that’s been all over the blogosphere for the last couple of months and if you haven’t heard of them yet, definitely go and have a look – trés jolie patterns!

Even my friends that don’t sew and read my blog have mentioned my lack of posts… So, what have I been up to in the last six months? Well 2012 has really not been a productive sewing year for me at all but I’m ok with that.

Because here’s why :- I finished my postgraduate course in public health. Sorry no pictures! But then who wants pictures of my boring old coursework?!!

I went travelling to Thailand for three weeks with my brother to visit my sister and family and then I started a new job! I’ve had little energy or time to start or finish projects with the amount of coursework I’ve had nor the energy after I’ve finished work.

Anyway here are some lovely pictures of Thailand 🙂 as you can’t have a blog post without pictures! And yes it was monsoon season when we went much to my brother’s consternation but I couldn’t go at any other time of the year. Did I mention that it was monsoon season??

Look, I got to ride an elephant!!

And we got to wash them – Absolutely amazing experience!! (If you do go to Chiang Mai and you want to go Elephant riding, please make sure that you do your research and find somewhere that looks after their elephants ethically and responsibly).

Night markets in Chiang Mai… (Great for crafts and knick knacks! And the street food is just amazing – NOM NOM NOM!!)

And for something a little textile related – this is a sewing blog after all! These are silk worms in their cocoons (@ Jim Thompson’s House) busy making silk! Jim Thompson was an American that settled in Thailand after the second world war and introduced America and the rest of the world to Thai silk. His house in Bangkok was beautiful but unfortunately you weren’t allowed to take photos anywhere in the house but this point.

And what they look like normally – Gross 🙂 Does this remind anyone of the film The Lost Boys?

Don’t worry it wasn’t all rain, rain and more rain! We did have some beautiful sunshine too 🙂 This is Koh Tao.

Phew! What a crazy six months – I can’t believe it’s December and nearly Christmas, eek!! And yes, I have managed to do some sewing. but guess what, you can read about that in my next post!!

Maybe! But that would be telling! 🙂 I’ve made a toile for my friend but got stuck with one for me when I ran out of lining fabric! But I’ll try to finish cutting that out later this week.
