Pirates ahoy!

A few weeks back I picked up this book from a village fete that I went to. For the bargain price of £1, I am now the lucky owner of ‘Fancy Dress for Kids’.

ImageDefinitely not something I would normally buy full price but very handy when you have extremely cute little nephews who have an obsession with pirates! I showed this page to my eldest nephew and since then he has kept asking me about when I will make him his pirate costume…

The Patterns are included at the back of the book and you just have to scale them up. I’ve never done this before but as I have some dot and cross paper it is in fact incredibly easy to do!

ImageI didn’t have any blue and white striped fabric and didn’t fancy buying any more fabric so I used a vibrant lobster print fabric bought from Goldhawk Road a few months ago. This is paired with a navy blue cotton drill type fabric for the outer waistcoat, also from Goldhawk road and topstitched with contrasting turquoise thread.

With some lovely long matching trousers, they’re pretty long but they’re supposed to be rolled up. This was so easy to make, I reckon only a couple of hours at most to be honest! I have one very happy nephew 🙂
