The ‘Blooming Marvelous’ Bloomers

This week’s Sew Weekly theme was Red. Red for Valentine’s. And in keeping with the romantic theme, I chose to make a cheeky pair of bloomers. I used this lovely red, white and blue cotton plaid fabric from Fabrics Galore. Luckily for me, I got a metre and a half from the remnants bin for £3. I used the Colette Patterns Madeleine bloomers which is available free to download from here. So all in all, a nice cheap little project. And if you are a beginner, I would highly recommend this project to you. The instructions are clear and the project is not so complex or overwhelming that it will put you off from sewing more things.

The only thing I altered was to change the position of the ribbons from the front to the side, you can’t really see them in the pictures I’m afraid. The ribbons were remnants I had in my stash.

Thank you for sharing with us your sewing projects. I know how much time and effort it takes to not only make a garment but also to write about it and post it on a blog. I am nominating you for The Versatile Blogger Award. Head on over to
collect the badge from my blog and display it on your page too. There are some rules that need to be followed which are listed on the post – Winners’ Meeting. Congratulations and thanks again. SewRuth.

Oh, what cute little shorts. I really like the fabric you used, too.

Thanks for posting about them. I’ll hop over and look at the free pattern now!
