Back to School…

I’m off to school this week! Well, i’ve signed up to do some evening classes in garment making… I’m keen to practice, practice and do more practice! What I hate is making clothes and ending up with something that looks very obviously homemade. I aspire to be able to finish garments off neatly and professionally looking. Maybe one day to couture standards – but hey, you have to start off somewhere!

Thought I’d share with you some of the places I have found in London that offer sewing classes that may inspire you. It’s definitely NOT a comprehensive or exhausting list:-

London College of Fashion (C London) Short Courses – They offer the widest range of courses but are pricey!

Kensington and Chelsea College (C/SW London) – Offer standard Clothes making course and some lingerie courses, much more affordable than LCF

The Make Lounge (N London) – Excellent beginner sewing workshops especially the knicker making one!

Oh Sew Brixton! (SW London) – Basic range of dressmaking courses – averagely priced

The Papered Parlour (SW London) – A couple of basic ‘make a dress in a weekend’ type courses

And with that in mind, I am going to cycle off to my class and let you know how I get on…

Addendum: Also Fashion Antidote (E London) is worth checking out as well!
